The monoblock heat pump is all about economical, comfortable heating and cooling of the building and heating of domestic water. Operational reliability is ensured by high-performance components, first of all by a durable, low-noise inverter compressor with stepless output control within 30-100% and innovative AntiFreeze protection for monoblock heat pumps. The EKONTROL remote maintenance and diagnostics system enables control of operation of the unit, reducing traditional servicing to a minimum. Confirmation of quality and efficiency is confirmed by EHPA-Q European Quality Mark awarded in 2022, as well as the inclusion of PCCO MONO heat pumps on the BAFA list.
No popular heating appliance provides such a high heating capacity with several times lower energy consumption. For example, the PCCO MONO 11 heat pump generates 11.6 kW of heat and uses only 2.4 kW of electricity. Thus, heating a medium-sized house even at low outside temperatures is done with energy consumption similar to that of a kettle or iron. Hewalex’s monoblock heat pump owes an additional reduction in energy consumption to the replacement of glycol with water in the external circuit.
The PCCO MONO heat pumps achieve the highest possible A+++ energy rating at a supply temperature of 35°C. This performance has been confirmed by testing for the EHPA-Q European Quality Mark, required in many Western European countries. High supply temperatures of up to 55°C also allow operation of the heat pumps in thermally upgraded buildings. Operation down to -25°C outdoors is possible.
Specifically for monoblock heat pumps, Hewalex has developed the PZ HX Protection Module, which performs the AntiFreeze function. This protects the condenser filled with heating water in the event of a power failure, even over a 48-hour period at an outdoor temperature of -25°C. The ability to operate with water in the system eliminates the need for glycol and an additional heat exchanger and circulation pump. This reduces investment and operating costs. At the same time, it increases the efficiency of the heat pump by up to 20% compared to the traditional variant with glycol in the system. In addition to lower costs, the use of water is also an environmental benefit.
The low noise level also allows PCCO MONO heat pumps to be installed in compact residential areas. In a quiet area, you should hear the noise of the trees rather than the hum of the air from the heat pump. This is facilitated by the variable capacity of the compressor and fan, which is used for most of the unit’s operating time. The daytime sound pressure level of 50 dB(A) permitted for detached houses, for example, is not exceeded by the PCCO MONO 6 heat pump at a distance of just one metre.
A heat pump primarily uses ambient energy. The small amount of electricity required to run the compressor does not generate emissions locally. The higher the efficiency of the appliance, the greater the benefits will be for both the household budget and the environment. An additional effect comes from the reduced amount of new-generation R32 refrigerant in the air-tight system, as well as the replacement of glycol with water thanks to an innovative anti-freeze protection.
Installing a monoblock heat pump means fewer steps and shorter installation times for the contractor than for traditional SPLIT units. It also offers a lower installation cost due to the fact that there is no need to purchase refrigerant and make a refrigeration circuit using copper pipes. The elimination of the special professional qualifications required for SPLIT heat pumps increases the pool of potential contractors and service technicians for MONOBLOCK heat pumps.

Developed for monoblock heat pumps, the PZ HX Protection Module provides full anti-freeze protection for the secondary loop (downstream of the heat pump condenser) in the event of mains power failure. Even at an outside temperature of -25°C sustained for at least 48 hours, this solution ensures protection of the heat pump against freezing, making any heating medium with anti-freeze additives unnecessary.
When running on water in the loop, the PCCO MONO heat pump enjoys a COP improved by 20% in comparison to a typical heat pump running on a water/glycol medium. It is also an environmentally friendly solution with reduced investment and operating costs.
In standard UPS systems, in the event of a mains power failure, the inverter will automatically discharge the battery in a few hours. The PZ HX Protection Module from HEWALEX is based on an additional control board that only gives voltage to the inverter when the heating water flow is forced.
Test programme (daily/monthly) – the HEWALEX solution tests whether the battery has sufficient capacity, whether the electrical system is connected correctly and checks the heating water flow (dirty filters, closed valves, defective circulation pump). The user receives immediate notification in an emergency situation via SMS, email.
The WARRANTY is given for the functionality, not the security module itself. If the water in the condenser freezes, the owner will receive a new unit under the terms of the warranty.
The G426 controller allows the selection of the hydraulic scheme of an installation equipped with a gas boiler. The controller’s functions allow it to work with the boiler to optimise the cost of heating domestic water. The text screen adds to the convenience when using an extended range of settings and operating status readings. Timing functions make it possible to adapt the operation of the heat pump, as well as the domestic water circulation pump, to the needs of the residents. The RS485 communication interface is used for online cooperation with the EKONTROL remote operation monitoring system.
